Embrace the challenge

Everyone has challenges. Perhaps the ones happening to others seem trivial to us and vice versa but everyone is going through tough times at some point. Challenges are there to make us stronger, to make us grow, to go beyond our current status quo and learn new things and see things from a new perspective.

Don’t look away, don’t walk away. Look straight and deal with one problem/issue/person/challenge at the time. You’ll rise on the other end as stronger and wiser and be grateful for it later. To borrow from many decades of my Christian indoctrination – “You are not presented with a challenge you cannot overcome.”

We don't grow when things are easy; we grow when we face challenges.

PS: Imagine how boring the life would be if there were no challenges…?

How to get the most out of your reading

I’m not sure about you but I usually don’t remember much out of what I read. I read, something sticks but it’s not as comprehensive as I’d like it to be.
Recently I started doing something that helps me to improve it. I bought an A4 binder book for $0.19(!) and have one for each book. I write all the details I’m interested in and want to remember like quotes, themes and main ideas from the book. The idea is that when I return or lost the book, I can go back to it, flip throug a few pages and still get most out of it.

While I write I also commit it to my long term memory so I certainly get more out of it.

Does it take longer to read a book? Yes! But the benefits outweigh the drawbacks as you’ll get more out of it, know exactly where to find the key concepts and remember/retain more.

Do you have any ‘hacks’ for reading retention? Share in the comments!
Happy reading! 🙂

New books

I’ve been slacking a bit with reading lately so thought it’s a great time to get back into it (summer is coming after all).
I went to my local and only Dymocks and went on shopping spree.

Books I bought
I got:

The Misfit Economy from Alexa Clay & Kyra Maya Phillips

How to build a billion dollar app by George Berkowski

The art of creative thinking by Rod Judkins

David & Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell

And

Wealth secrets of the 1% by Sam Wilkin
I’ll be reviewing them or writing. Bit about them in the coming weeks as I’ll be going through them. They seem very interesting and about topics and things that I’m very interested in.

I’m currently reading Body Mind Mastery by Dan Millman, one of my favourite authors. My girlfriend really loved it so I thought I’ll give it a go as I haven’t read it.

What are you reading now and what are your reading plans? Let me know in the comments below.
PS I’ll be adding some more tech articles as well re security and so on. Stand by.
